Watch a baby explore the world. Everything within sight is seen, everything within touch is felt by hand, by foot and by mouth. The full range of available sounds is emitted. The baby is exploring a small world, but is exploring it very thoroughly. It is obvious that a great deal is being learned. Educators talking about the way this learning happens would use words like: self-directed, experiential, nonverbal. I prefer to say home-style learning. |
